July 2 Sheila W and Bernice K. A walk near Alphin Brook and Hambeer Lane. Following Alphin Brook past Little John’s Cross. Distance approximately 3 miles. Lunch at a pub in Ide.
July 16 Ken R. Meet at Mutter's Moor car park just to the west of Sidmouth, SY109872. There are 4 miles of footpaths/tracks, no stiles but one short ascent. Lunch at Sidmouth Garden Centre, SY115898.
30 July Tricia B. The walk starts at Otterton Green, grid reference SY082953, and is a 5 miles circular walk taking in a bit of the coast path to Ladram Bay and walking on quiet lanes and paths back to Otterton for lunch at the Kings Arms. An easy walk with no stiles.
Aug 13 John S. A walk from Thorverton to Brampford Speke alongside the river Exe and return along the back roads via Yellowford farm. Finishing at the Thorverton Arms for lunch
Aug 27 Sue and Mike S. Explorer Map 115 Grid reference ST 068 081 Start: Kentisbeare Village Hall Car Park. Route: Stowford Water, Higher Pirzwell, Wressing, Goodiford Farm. Distance: Four miles Four stiles. Lunch at the Wyndham Arms
10 Sept Jenny W. Circular walk round Clyst Hydon and Plymtree mainly on footpaths. Lunch at the Merry Harriers. About 4 miles.
24 Sept Bill T. This 3.5 mile walk follows the river Exe from Bickleigh to Tiverton, along a well-trodden path under trees and across meadows while enjoying the sound of the river. There are 3 stiles, one fallen tree-trunk to clamber over and a few small muddy patches that cannot be avoided. Boots are recommended. It is suggested we take the public bus back from Tiverton to Bickleigh - otherwise its a 7 mile walk in the countryside retracing the outward route.
Oct 8 Jenny C. and Francis U. A walk from Sidford to Sidmouth down the Byes and back. This level walk on good surfaces is approximately 4 miles. Modest charge in the car park. Lunch at the Blue Ball Inn at Sidford.
Oct 22 John and Maggie J. An easy walk from Lympstone to Exmouth and back along the cycle track. Lunch at the Swan Inn at Lympstone. Approximately 4 miles.
Nov 5 Keith and Irene B. Some interesting architecture in North Tawton. A walk along the river Taw and through low hills. Almost all on hard surface paths and minor roads. Lunch in local pub or tea-room. Approx 4 miles
Nov 19 Peter and Jean B. A walk on the Tiverton Canal, starting between Tiverton and Halberton. The start will be at the Swan's Neck car park, OSGR SS998131. The walk will be 3.5 miles long, mostly flat and with maybe 1 stile. Lunch will probably be at the Globe Inn, Sampford Peverell.
PROGRAMME OF WALKS FOR PERIOD 12 FEBRUARY TO 10 JUNE 2015
Walk 1. Feb 12. Led by Sue and Mike S, we start at the Bowd Inn Car Park (map ref 107 900) and walk 3.5 miles through woodland along tracks and then along the edge of a field. Good views of Ottery St Mary. There are no stiles and only two short inclines.
Walk 2. Feb. 26. Led by David and Mary H, we start this 2.5 mile walk at Bridford Village hall (map ref 815875) (Sat nav EX6 7 HN) and walk through Rowden Valley wood and see recent work being carried out by the Bridford Trust. We continue along a road and lane which may be muddy. No stiles. Lunch at the Bridford Inn
Walk 3. Mar 12. Led by Tricia B, this 4.5 mile walk starts near the church in East
Budleigh (065848) and goes past Bicton church before going on to Otterton. We return via
East Budfeigh village and lunch (to be confirmed) at the Sir Walter Raleigh. There are three
stiles.
Walk 4. Mar 26. Led by Ken R, we start at Salcombe Regis church car park (ref 148 888} and follow tracks for about 3 miles, enjoying spectacular views of the sea before enjoying seeing donkeys (the four legged ones) and lunching at the Donkey Sanctuary, having walked along mostly flat country and negotiating only two stiles.
Walk 5. Mar 9. Led by Bill T, this 3.5 miles walk starts at Fingle Bridge (map ref 744 899) and follows well-maintained NT paths upstream along the bank of the river Teign for about 1.5 miles before crossing the river to return by the north bank. Depending on weather and walkers' interest, there is a choice of several paths for the return which could lengthen the overall walk. Pub lunch or picnic.
Walk 6. Apr 23. Led by Gwen S, this moorland walk of 4 miles starts at Postbridge (map ref 628811) and goes along a path, some of which is rough, picnic at the waterfall on the East Dart before returning along the river bank to our starting point.
Walk 7. May 7. Led by Jenny C and Francis U, this 3.5 mile walk starts at Parke, Bovey Tracey (map ref 806786) following the riverside and then on woodland paths. A few gentle gradients. One stile. Lunch at the Home Farm, Parke.
Walk 8. May 21. Led by Jenny W, this walk (details later) starts in Brampford Speke (map ref 926985) and goes to Langford and Upton Pyne. Lunch (to be confirmed nearer the date of the walk) at the Lazy Toad.
Walk 9. June 4. Led by Jean and Peter B, this 4.5 mile walk starts in Feniton (map ref 107994) and follows lanes and tracks. There are a few gentle gradients. Lunch at the Greyhound Inn, Fenny Bridges.

Walk 1. July 31. Led by Gwen S. Starting from the Kings Oven (676811) car park 200 metres from the Warren House Inn, this 4.5 mile walk descends to the Golden Dagger tin mining area, goes towards the medieval village of Challacombe and then on to Headland Warren/Birch tor. If weather permits, lunch will be a picnic; otherwise at the East Dart pub in Postbridge.
Walk 2. August 14. Led by Suzanne and Mike S. Starting at Bickleigh Mill car park (938073) this 5 mile walk is along farm tracks and quiet gradient-free lanes. En route, we visit Cadeleigh church which boasts a splendid memorial. Lunch at the Fisherman’s Cot.
Walk 3. August 28. Led by Keith W, this 3 mile walk starts at Eggesford railway station and follows paths and tracks. There are a few stiles and gradients. Stout footwear is recommended. Lunch at the Garden Centre. (685111) (Cheap rates for group travel from Exeter on the Tarka line
Walk 4. September 11. John S has agreed to lead the walk around Thorverton that the Badmans had intended leading. Meet at 10.30 in the car park of the Thorverton Arms in the centre of Thorverton. The walk is about 4-4.5 miles long and will be along paths and lanes. Details will be available on the Wednesdays immediately before the walk.
Walk 5. September 25. Led by Mary and David H, this 3.5 mile walk, free of gradients, will be in Bridford Woodland park. (Satnav reference EX6 7HS). For details, consult the Bridford Trust’s website. Before setting out on the walk, we hope to have an informative talk from the Trust’s chairman. Lunch will be at the Bridford Inn.
Walk 6. October 9. . Led by Lorna C and David O, this 4 mile walk on woodland and moorland paths starts at the Rora House Christian Centre in Halford (802743). To get there, leave Exeter by the A38. At the Drumbridges roundabout take the 3rd exit, signposted Liverton. On this road there is a signpost to Rora House. Turn RLRLR. Do not use satnav. Picnic at the viewpoint on Ramshorn Down if weather permits. Otherwise eat inside Rora House where tea/coffee can be made.
Walk 7. October 23. Led by Ken R, starting at Woodbury Castle, (033872), we shall walk south along the western ridge and enjoy excellent views of the estuary. This will cover territory familiar to many of us but that does not detract from its offering everything Forum walkers enjoy.
Walk 8. November 6. Led by Jenny W, this walk starts from the car park of the Cannon Arms Inn, Newton Poppleford. Details of the walk will be announced later. Lunch at the Cannon Arms Inn.
Walk 9. November 20. Led by Jenny C and Francis U, we start at Budleigh Salterton (free) (higher) car park Map Ref 061822, this 3 mile walk in the direction of Exmouth is along paths and roads. There is a steady incline on the outward journey. Lunch at the Tea and Tattle cafe on the town’s main street.
Walk 10. December 4. Led by Jean and Peter B, this 5 mile walk starts in Otterton at the Kings’ Arms Inn and follows the river to White Bridge before turning towards East Budleigh for the homeward stretch to lunch at the Kings’ Arms in Otterton. The walk is virtually gradient –free and there is only one stile.
