The R D & E is seeking the help of those who can knit to produce what they call Twiddlemuffs. These are knitted woollen mufflers into which have been sewn things like buttons, rings, ribbons which dementia patients' restless fingers can amuse themselves with.
A twiddlemuff is apparently a wonderful source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation and at the same time keeps hands snug and warm.
